RescueBoot™ is an exciting new technology from Res-Q-ware that provides Windows XP users with a revolutionary RescueBoot Windows™ disaster recovery environment. The RescueBoot Windows disaster recovery environment provides simple and reliable access to all of your valuable hard disk files if your normal Windows configuration becomes unstable because of a computer virus or other software related problem. You will feel right home using the RescueBoot disaster recovery environment because it is created from your existing Windows configuration.
The RescueBoot Windows Environment Started From Disk or CD
Windows XP uses the NTFS file system to store files on your hard disk. The NTFS file system is great for controlling access to your files, it is very fast and it supports very large hard disk partitions. Unfortunately the NTFS file system also makes it virtually impossible to get to your valuable data files if Windows crashes or becomes unstable to the point that it is no longer usable. Even if you make regular backups of your data, your last backup will not include the most recent changes you've made to your current documents or files that you've saved onto your hard disk since that last time you did a backup. All of changes you made since the last time you backed up can be lost forever when Windows fails to start.
The RescueBoot Windows disaster recovery environment provides you with a simple way to get to all of the files located on your hard disk even when your normal Windows configuration fails to start or becomes unusable after being infected with a computer virus. Even if you've never performed a backup of your document files you may still be able to locate and save all of your existing files before reformatting your hard drive and reinstalling Windows after experiencing an unrecoverable Windows problems.
If you are already a user of the backup program that comes with Window XP, you will immediately recognize the benefit of a disaster recovery environment because it allows you to do a complete backup of your computer hard disk to a network drive, USB or FireWire external hard disk and then restore your hard disk without the need to first re-install Windows onto your hard disk.
Booting from the RescueBoot Windows disaster recovery environment also provides you with a way to perform hard disk maintenance that normally cannot be done because of files that are always in use when you are running Windows. For example, the rescue environment provides you with the perfect way to defragment all of those Windows files which normally can't be relocated.
RescueBoot creates a bootable archive copy your existing Windows operating system files, hardware drivers and other configuration information. RescueBoot archives the necessary files in a separate RescueBoot hard disk subdirectory on your Windows system drive and then modifies the archived Windows configuration information so that Windows will be able to start and run from this new location. RescueBoot provides user controlled options for protecting and hiding the archived files to prevent malicious software such as computer viruses from modifying or infecting these files.
RescueBoot can even generate and burn a bootable RescueBoot CD providing you with the RescueBoot Windows CD disaster recovery environment even in the event of a complete hard disk failure or other disk related problem that prevents starting your normal Windows configuration and the RescueBoot Windows environment from your hard disk. The RescueBoot Windows CD disaster recovery environment is an ideal solution for restoring a hard disk backup from a network, USB or FireWire device.
The RescueBoot software is extremely easy to use because the RescueBoot Wizard guides you thought the steps necessary to create a RescueBoot hard disk directory and bootable RescueBoot CD.
The ResueBootWizard
The RescueBoot Windows disaster recovery environment provides all the Windows functionality necessary for locating and saving the data files located on your hard disk, performing disk maintenance or doing manual disaster recovery operations. RescueBoot also allows you to access the internet using the Windows Internet Explorer if you normally access the internet through a local network connection or if you have a dialup ISP that can be supported using the Windows RAS dialer.
The following is just a partial list of the Windows features that are available from within the RescueBoot Windows disaster recovery environment.
RescueBoot supports all of your existing disk storage devices including external FireWire and USB hard disks, CD-ROM drives, USB flash drives and all other disk storage devices that you would normally connect to your computer. If your disk storage device was installed and working prior to creating your RescueBoot hard disk directory it should also work when you start Windows from the RescueBoot hard disk directory or RescueBoot CD. The device does not have to be powered on or even connected to your computer when creating the RescueBoot hard disk directory so long as the drivers have already been installed in your normal Windows environment.
