RescueBoot uses wizards to guide you through all of the available RescueBoot program functionality. A wizard presents you with list of operations that you can choose from and it will only display those options that are valid for your current computer configuration and your currently existing RescueBoot protected directory state. The RescueBoot wizards use radio buttons to allow you to select an operation to perform and are displayed with the most likely to be needed operation pre-selected for you.
When you start the RescueBoot software you will be presented with the program main wizard that will be similar to the wizard shown below. The main program wizard is the starting point for using the RescueBoot software for creating a RescueBoot directory or CD or for removing an existing RescueBoot directory. Only those options that are valid for your current configuration will be displayed. For example if you have never created the RescueBoot hard disk directory the only option will be to allow you to create the RescueBoot directory.
RescueBoot Wizard
Selecting "Create or update the RescueBoot directory" will allow you to create a new RescueBoot directory using the current Windows environment on your computer. Selecting this option will remove any previously existing RescueBoot directory that you have previously created and then create a new RescueBoot directory. See the help section titled "Creating a RescueBoot Directory" for additional information about this option.
Selecting "Burn a RescueBoot CD with your CD burner" will allow you to burn a bootable RescueBoot CD using the files from your existing RescueBoot directory. See the help section titled "Creating a RescueBoot CD" for additional information about this option.
Selecting "Delete the Rescue directory" will allow you to remove an existing RescueBoot directory from your hard drive. See the help section titled "Removing the RescueBoot Directory" for additional information about this option.
Selecting "Change the Rescue directory protection setting" will allow you to change the way RescueBoot protects the files within your RescueBoot hard disk directory. See the help section titled "Changing Rescue Directory Protection" for additional information about this option.
You can change the active wizard selection by clicking on the radio button to the left of the operation you would like the RescueBoot wizard to perform. After using the radio buttons to select the operation you would like RescueBoot to perform you can click on the button labeled "Next >" to have RescueBoot move on to the next step in the operation you selected. Clicking on the "Help" button will display context sensitive help about specifically tied to the wizard options being displayed. Clicking on the a button labeled "< Back" will return you to the previous wizard dialog and clicking on "Cancel" button will allow you to exit the RescueBoot software.
Typing the first letter of the command displayed on a button acts the same as clicking on the button. The "Tab" key can also be used to move the active selection between the available button on a wizard and the currently selected radio button item in the option list. You can identify the active selection because it will display a rectangle around the text on the selected push button or radio button list item. After selecting a push button using the "Tab" key, pressing the "Enter" key on the keyboard will act the same as clicking the selected button with a mouse. When the active button is the currently selected radio button item you can use the up or down arrow keys select a different option from the radio button list and then press the tab key to select one of the push buttons.
