Booting From The RescueBoot Directory

Immediately after successfully creating a RescueBoot directory you should perform a test of the newly created RescueBoot directory. The RescueBoot software will not allow you to create a RescueBoot CD until after you have performed a test boot from the RescueBoot directory. Testing the newly created RescueBoot directory is necessary for several reasons.

To perform a test of the newly created RescueBoot directory you will need to restart your computer by clicking on the "Start" button in the task bar of your computer screen and then clicking on the "Turn Off Computer" button located on the Start Menu.  When the "Turn off computer" dialog is displayed on the screen click on the button labeled "Restart".

As your computer restarts you will notice that a new boot menu is displayed. This boot menu provides you with a list of operating systems to choose from. The default selection on this menu will be your normal Windows operating system which will start automatically in 20 seconds after this menu is displayed. Use the down arrow on your keyboard to select the menu option "Start Windows From Your RescueBoot Directory" as shown in the image below. After selecting the RescueBoot menu option, press the "Enter" key on your keyboard to allow Windows to start from your RescueBoot directory.
